Skinny Arms
I took the boys to the splash pad one day and I was putting sunscreen on Connor's arms. I said something about his arms being so skinny. He asked what that meant and I explained that it was the same thing as thin and it means there isn't much fat on them. He looked at me and said "yours are kind of stout, aren't they?"

Chot Chot Milt
Zeke asked for a drink last night and I asked him what he wanted. He said Chot Chot Milt (chocolate milk, of course)
I told Brandon I thought it was so cute the way he says chot chot milt.
Zeke looked at me and very carefully, with a pause between each syllable said chot....chot....milt. He thought he was saying choc....late....milk and looked at me like "that's the way you say it...not the way you were saying it!"

Thithy Wa Wa
Zeke has REALLY started talking this past week. We were on vacation in Wisconsin.
Every day, he would get up, grab his fishing pole and find an adult. He would hold up his pole and say "Thithy Wa Wa" (Fish in the water)

Right, Efan?
One day, I picked Quentin up at a preschool that they had at the high school and since I was taking him back to Pam's, I also picked up another kid that attended the same preschool (Ethan).
We got in the car and I got them all strapped in and we took off. Ethan said something to Quentin, but he called him "twentin". Quentin asked me why he called him that. I explained that he was saying Quentin, but that it was hard for Ethan to say so he was saying it the best he could. Quentin acted a little insulted, but said "ok".
The next thing I heard, they were chatting about something and Quentin ended up telling Etan something then he said "Right, Efan?"

I Love Your Face
I was telling Connor good night last night and he said "I love to look at your face"
I said "Thanks. I love to look at your face, too."
He said "I really do. I smells like your house and reminds me of your house"

Like Your House
The boys were almost ready for bed and we were going to lay down on the floor and read a couple of books. I sat down and started to lay on my stomach and got close to Connor as he was doing the same thing. He said "Oh, you smell good"
I said "Thanks" He said "You smell like your house"
(I asked him if that was a good thing and he said it is)

Like My Own Sons
We were at the park the other day and Connor was helping Zeke get up the ladder to go down the slide. I told him what a great big brother he is and he said "I know"
He started talking about how much work it is to take care of Quentin and Zeke but he doesn't mind doing it because they are so cute. He said "It's like they are my own sons"

Lucky Day
The boys were here last night and Geoff was talking to Quentin. Quentin told Geoff that he got to sleep in because he was staying with me in the morning. Geoff said he was lucky (because he got to sleep in).
Quentin said "Every day I spend with Gramma Coley is a lucky day!"

It's Just Not a Game Until...
Brandon, Geoff and I took the boys to a Tin Caps (minor league) baseball game on Friday night for Connor's birthday. Brandon got the tickets for free and they were very good seats. We sat in a section where a waitress would take our order and bring food to us. When we first sat down, the waitress put a menu down in front of us.
Connor picked up the menu and asked me to read it to him. I said he should try to read it. He started to read it then handed it to me and asked if I could read it to him. So, I read the menu to him. The last item in the first section was "salad"
He quickly said "I'll have a salad!" I asked him several times before the waitress came back if that's what he really wanted and he never wavered. So when the waitress came back, he ordered a salad.
The waitress asked what kind of dressing he wanted and he said "Olive Garden dressing". I told him they didn't have Olive Garden dressing so he settled for ranch dressing.
I guess it's just not a game until you've had your salad!

Oh, The Pain
It was such a nice day out on Monday, the boys were all playing outside. We were outside with them and Quentin was climbing up the playset to go down the slide. All of a sudden, he started SCREAMING!.
Something hurt his hand. We looked and did not see a splinter and also did not see any wood sticking up. We decided he must have gotten stung. Poppy went inside to get ice and after Daddy comforted him a while, I took him in to clean it up. While I was cleaning it and checking for a stinger or a splinter, Brandon came in with the other two boys.
There was no stinger or splinter but it was swollen around a little hole in his hand. I went in to get something to put on it after washing it. I handed the tube to Brandon.
Quentin (4 1/2 yrs old) said "Wait!" I thought, like any other 4 year old, he would say "is that going to sting?" But he didn't.
Instead, he asked "Is that an antibiotic ointment?"
Brandon said yes and Quentin then said "ok...it won't sting then." and held his hand out to get the ointment on it.

We're New
When Joe Z. died, Connor was about 3 years old. He asked Brandon why he had died. Brandon explained to him that he died because he was old. Connor said, "but we're new. Right Dad? We're new."

School for Quentin
This morning, I was helping the boys get ready for school. Quentin was being very quiet. I asked him what was wrong, and he said, "I just don't want to go to school." I asked him why not. He said, "I already went there THREE times this week!"

Big Butt
We were at a basketball game and Quentin had to go to the bathroom. He was probably about 2 1/2. When he went to the bathroom to poop at that time, of course his little butt went down into the toilet a little, like kids' butts always do.
He went to the bathroom, then I sat down to go. We always went in the handicapped stall when I took them to the bathroom so that when I had to go, they could go over to the side. Well, as usual, Quentin went over to the side and I sat down.
He said, very seriously, "You are never going to be able to poop wth that big butt." (since of course, my butt didn't go down into the toilet.)

Real Life
There is a minor league baseball in the city near where we live. Last year they had a "Star Wars Night" and the team wore special jerseys. They were really cool...they were mostly black with stars all over them. They gave the jerseys away to several lucky fans. They would call out ticket numbers to find the winners
Connor, who was five at the time, got excited every time they started calling numbers and was SURE he would win. When they didn't call his ticket number, being five, of course he would get mad.
We tried to explain to him that everyone in the stadium was hoping they would win a jersey and some people would win, but MOST people would not win one.
They started calling numbers again, and again, he did not win. So again we tried to explain that it would be nice to win, but most people there would not win.
One of us said to him "That's just real life"
Connor's response..."I HATE real life"
He didn't win, but he got over it and we had a good time.

A Big Cookie
When Connor was not yet 2 years old, they were all at a basketball game. Connor was going through a stage where he ran away from everyone a lot! True to form, he ran away from Brandon and Jessica at the ball game and they were in the bleachers. They were afraid he would get hurt falling on the bleachers so Brandon went after him.
Brandon took him by the hand and Connor pulled away and Brandon heard something pop. As the evening wore on, Connor's arm got sore an it got worse and worse as the night went on. On the way home, they stopped at DuPont Hospital to get him checked. As it turned out, his elbow popped out and he had nursemaid elbow.
The nurse was very nice to him and asked him if he needed a cookie.
Connor pitifully said "A big one"

Suicide Cereal
I took Quentin and Zeke to daycare after Brandon and Connor had already left for school. When Connor got up, he could not decide what kind of cereal he wanted so I asked him if he wanted "suicide cereal". He asked what that was and I told him it was mixing all the cereals together. He said that's what he wanted so I made it for him.
When Quentin got up later, we went through the same thing. He also wanted "suicide cereal". He was eating it and told me it was really good. Then he said "Connor would like this." I thought that was sweet that he thought of Connor.

Muscle Shirt
I sat at lunch with Connor, then Quentin yesterday. When I went over and sat with Quentin, I asked him if Brooke was at our table. He said "she's over at the other table."
I said "Is she the one in the brown top?" He said "no the other one"
I said "The one in the tank top?" She had on a real cute, girly tank top. It looked a lot like a sundress but it was just a blouse.
He said "Right there...the one in the muscle shirt"

Introduction
You know how people always say "you should write that down" when kids say something funny. Well, we have a LOT of funny stuff that I, at least, have not written down so I just got the idea that I could create this blog and we could all write stuff down as we thought about "the thinks" they have thought up over the years. And "the thinks" they will think up in the years to come...so add whatever you want.
