Did I Look Like That?

Brandon took the boys to Elizabeth's house one Saturday recently. After spending the day at the Children's Museum, Elizabeth was getting Adriana ready for bed. Quentin and Zeke went upstairs with her to give Adriana a bath. Elizabeth got her undressed and put her in the tub. Quentin looked at Elizabeth after noticing Adriana and said "Did I look like that when I was a baby?" Elizabeth said, "No...Adriana is a girl. Remember, girls don't have weiners and boys do." Zeke said "So, when did it fall off?"

What Does That Mean?

Quentin: Grandma Coley I have a joke for you.

Me: Ok...go ahead...

Quentin: An elephant was talking to a naked guy and said "That's really nice but can you pick up a peanut with it?" I laughed and Quentin laughed.

Quentin: What does that mean? (I laughed to myself)

Me: (touching Quentin's nose)Well, you know how and elephant can pick up peanuts with his trunk...his nose.

Quentin: Ohhhh yeahhhh....


Connor: Then what makes a difference if the guy he is talking to is naked?

Me: Hmmm....welllll....

Quentin: Oh, I get it!!!

Me: You do?

Quentin: Yeah...you know...peanuts...like nuts

I Could Be Your Best Friend

We went to Fort Wayne last night and I was walking out of the restaurant with Zeke. He grabbed my hand and said "I wish I was the same age as you" I said "Why would you want to be my age?" He said "Because then I could be your best friend"

The Board Meeting

Brandon had been the business manager at Norwell for a few months. Connor was about three years old. Every month, Barndon had to go to school board meetings which he would just call board meetings when he talked about them. He would tell the boys or Jessica he would be late that night because he had a board meeting.

After a few months of this, I had the boys somewhere and Connor picked up a piece of wood. It was flat and almost square. He said he needed to keep it to give to his dad. I didn't really ask him why, but just said ok.

When Brandon got home that night, Connor gave him the piece of wood. Brandon said "Thanks, buddy. What is this for?"

Connor said "well, for your board meetings."

I Wish I Could Be You

On the way to school this morning, all of a sudden Zeke said "Gramma Coley, I wish I could be you" I said "Zeke, why would you want to be me?" Quentin said "I guess he wants to be a girl" Zeke: "No I don't! I just wish I could be Gramma Coley" I asked him why again. He said "Because I like you so much"

I'm Totally Mature

We took Mom to the doctor today and the boys got a little antsy waiting for her to come out so I told them we would just go out to the car a watch a movie while we waited for her.

On the way walking out, Connor asked why we were going to the car. He had mentioned a couple of weeks ago something about him being mature so I said "well, a couple of boys need to be a little more mature so we are just going out to the car instead of causing commotion in the doctor's office."

Connor said "I know Zeke is not mature, but he is only three. I think Quentin has become a lot more mature. And I am totally mature."

I said "You are pretty mature, but I wouldn't say totally because if you were totally mature, you wouldn't say stuff like 'why does Zeke get to stay home and I still have to go to school?' when he is sick."

Connor: "yeah, I'm working on that."

Initiative

I had all the boys today because Connor and Quentin were still sick. They were watching "Toy Story 3" in the afternoon and I happened to go in the bedroom when the big pink bear, Lotso, was talking. He said something about "initiative" and Connor said "I like initiative".

I said "do you know what initiative means?"

He said he did and I went on to say "it's like when you think of a good idea and you go ahead and do it without waiting for someone to tell you to do it"

He said "I know that. And it has a cuss word in the middle of it"
